Prosperity Now Scorecard

The Prosperity Now Scorecard is a comprehensive resource for data on household financial health and policy recommendations to help put everyone in our country on a path to prosperity.

Prosperity Now has also developed local reports for cities and counties in North Texas. The areas where Dallas seems to lag most significantly is in areas of asset poverty rates, the intersection of race and poverty, and uninsured rates. The areas we outperform state and national averages include income inequality and housing affordability.

 

The Dallas Metro report has some interesting findings:

  • 27.2% of Dallas Metro residents are asset poor and 37% are liquid asset poor (on par with Texas and US percentages)

  • Households of color are more than 4x as likely to live in poverty (2x as likely in US and Texas)

  • 21.7% of Dallas Metro residents are uninsured, 2x higher than US percentage

The Dallas County report has some interesting findings:

  • 32.6% of Dallas County residents are asset poor and 43.8% are liquid asset poor

  • Households of color are more than 4x as likely to live in poverty in Dallas, compared to 2x as likely in US and Texas.

  • 24.7% of Dallas County residents are uninsured, 2.5x higher than US percentage

The City of Dallas report findings include:

  • 34.4% of City of Dallas residents are asset poor and 45% are liquid asset poor

  • Households of color are more than 5x as likely to live in poverty (2x as likely in US and Texas)

  • 12.7% of households are unbanked, compared to 7% in US

  • 30% of City of Dallas residents are uninsured, 3x higher than US percentage
